The resulting lumber is called quartersawn (quarter-sawn), quartered, and radially-sawn. <\/p>\n<p>Quarter-sawn boards have greater stability of form and size with less cupping, shrinkage across the width, shake and splitting, and other good qualities. <\/p>\n<p>Quarter cut typically results in smaller boards requiring a larger log in order to get bigger pieces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Quarter cut is a method of cutting wood whereby the logs are sawn into lumber.
