They are typically made up of two components &#8211; a grille (large metal \/ steel top) that allows water to enter, and a concrete, brick or plastic basin that captures the water from above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of a catch basin is to &#8220;catch&#8221; the water from above, store it temporarily before it is sent off via piping to  drainage points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Catch basins are part of many drainage systems that act as a drain.
