{"id":10595,"date":"2022-07-29T07:56:27","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T14:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/rhino-completes-test-programme-for-industry-leading-high-performance-fire-door-and-launches-to-market\/"},"modified":"2022-07-29T07:56:27","modified_gmt":"2022-07-29T14:56:27","slug":"rhino-completes-test-programme-for-industry-leading-high-performance-fire-door-and-launches-to-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/rhino-completes-test-programme-for-industry-leading-high-performance-fire-door-and-launches-to-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Rhino completes test programme for industry-leading, high-performance fire door and launches to market"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span>The UK\u2019s leading manufacturer of engineered doors, Rhino Doors has completed all necessary fire tests on its high-performance integrity and insulation-rated fire door, following recent successful tests conducted on its single leaf variants.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>The doors \u2013 which are now available in both single and double leaf variants, with or without vision panels \u2013 are\u00a0rated at 90 minutes duration for both insulation and integrity when tested in accordance with EN1634-1.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Most importantly, at only 63mm thick, the doors are both architecturally attractive and technically proficient for use in high-visibility commercial environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>So, what does this mean for specifiers, architects and others who select portal and entry solutions for buildings?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>All fire doors must achieve integrity (\u2018E\u2019) ratings to prevent the passage of flames from the fire side\u00a0to the unexposed \u2018fire free\u2019 side of the door. These ratings sit on a graded basis against elapsed time periods; the higher the rating, the longer the door has prevented the passage of flames to the unexposed side of the door.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>However, there is an additional threat to life other than fire and smoke: <\/span><span>radiated heat<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Radiated heat poses a serious fatality threat. A report by the International Association of Oil &amp; Gas Producers (IOGP)<\/span><span>i<\/span><span>\u00a0found that fatalities will occur when individuals are exposed to radiated heat above <\/span><span>6 kW\/m<\/span><span>2<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As radiated heat and exposure time increase, so does the certainty of fatalities.
