{"id":11163,"date":"2022-09-23T18:23:24","date_gmt":"2022-09-24T01:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/providing-albertans-with-job-ready-skills\/"},"modified":"2022-09-23T18:23:24","modified_gmt":"2022-09-24T01:23:24","slug":"providing-albertans-with-job-ready-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/providing-albertans-with-job-ready-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"Providing Albertans with job-ready skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The province of Alberta\u2019s Advanced Education program will invest $8 million over the next two years to fund new micro-credential programs, including several targeting the construction sector.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/duN09w6inXg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"9ItSMlAM\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The short-term programs aim to create new opportunities for unemployed and underemployed Albertans to quickly re-skill or upskill in the province\u2019s changing economy so that these workers are better equipped to meet industry needs when re-entering the workforce or pivoting in their careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMicro-credentials empower Albertans to develop the job-ready skills they need to be successful and build new careers, while ensuring employers have access to the talent they need to grow their business,\u201d stated Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Advanced Education. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled we\u2019re able to expand this program in a meaningful way that supports our students, post-secondary institutions, employers and industry to secure Alberta\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The funding comes from the Alberta at Work initiative that was introduced in Budget 2022 and builds on the $5.6 million used to launch a micro-credential pilot program in 2021.
