{"id":12032,"date":"2023-01-22T04:05:33","date_gmt":"2023-01-22T12:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/five-win-2bn-wales-and-western-rail-renewal-deals\/"},"modified":"2023-01-22T04:05:37","modified_gmt":"2023-01-22T12:05:37","slug":"five-win-2bn-wales-and-western-rail-renewal-deals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/five-win-2bn-wales-and-western-rail-renewal-deals\/","title":{"rendered":"Five win \u00a32bn Wales and Western rail renewal deals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The six contracts play a key part in a new way of working where Wales and Western region will work collaboratively with trusted suppliers over a longer term to deliver faster and more efficient projects.<\/p>\n<div class=\"break-out-box\">\n<h3>CP7 (2024 to 2029) Wales and Western renewals partners<\/h3>\n<hr\/>\n<ul>\n<li>Wales and Western electrification and plant \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6a00;\">AmcoGiffen\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Wales and Western stations and buildings work contract \u2013 maintenance and renewals of canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks and subways \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6a00;\">Octavius\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Wales and Borders structures \u2013 <span style=\"color: #ff6a00;\"><strong>AmcoGiffen\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Wales and Borders geotechnical and off-track drainage work \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6a00;\">BAM Nuttall\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Western geotechnical and off-track drainage work \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6a00;\">Taylor Woodrow<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Western structures \u2013 maintenance and renewals of assets such as bridges, tunnels, walls and culverts \u2013 <span style=\"color: #ff6a00;\"><strong>Morgan Sindall Infrastructure\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>The contracts cover essential renewals to buildings and structures, like bridges, tunnels, culverts and drainage, as well as supplying and maintaining electrification and plant.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-ad-id=\"470319\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ciob.org%2F%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The electrification and plant portfolio is extremely varied, covering major overhead line interventions to new points heaters, and all the plant at the Severn Tunnel pumping station.<\/p>\n<p>The stations work streams includes new stations at North Filton and Henbury in Bristol, Wellington and Cullompton in Devon, and Charfield in South Gloucestershire.<\/p>\n<p>By packaging the work into one portfolio Network Rail is expecting efficiencies in time and cost through best use of resources, consistency, continual improvement as well as better coordinated access to the railway and a focus on innovative solutions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-mpu ad-mpu-inline\">\n<div class=\"sleeve\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-ad-id=\"440105\" href=\"http:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/themes\/constructionenquirer\/adclick.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.intersteels.com%3Futm_source%3Dconstruction-enquirer%26utm_medium%3Dbanner%26utm_campaign%3Dconstructionenq-ads\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"track_ad_click(this);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/1674389133_458_w4TRUSS FABRICATION_NEW.gif\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>These contracts form part of Wales and Western\u2019s overall programme to develop long term supply relationships, like that already in place with our South Rail System Alliance (Colas and Aecom), and will be followed by similar contracts for signalling later in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart Calvert, capital delivery director for Network Rail\u2019s Wales &amp; Western region, said:\u00a0\u201cWe have made real progress in transforming the delivery of our investment projects, reducing the time and cost of our work, as we saw with completion of the Dartmoor Line to Okehampton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re taking this same approach to our renewals, and it\u2019s very important that we select excellent suppliers and work collaboratively to get the same sort of benefits which will ultimately support better service for our passengers and freight customers.
