Agilent expects shipments from the expansion project to begin in 2026.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>The expansion follows strong growth in demand for the company\u2019s high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients, or API, which help treat cancer, cardiovascular disease and other rare diseases, according to the release.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Dive Insight:<\/h3>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>Health industry experts project the market for therapeutic oligos, the molecules that serve as the API for these drugs, to grow in double digits annually over the next five years, totaling approximately $2.4 billion in 2027.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The investment illustrates the strength of manufacturing construction in 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>Richard Branch, chief economist at Dodge Construction Network, expects manufacturing starts to <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.constructiondive.com\/news\/2023-outlook-commercial-starts-tick-down\/639110\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>reach about $51.2 billion<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> in 2023.
