Two of the interesting projects in the mix here are the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/projects\/west-don-lands-block-10-indigenous-hub.39147\" target=\"_blank\">Indigenous Hub<\/a>\u00a0and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/projects\/canary-house.46611\" target=\"_blank\">Canary House<\/a>, both currently under construction on Block 10 of the West Don Lands, at the southeast corner of Cherry Street and Front Street East.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><imgx alt=\"West Donlands Block 10: Indigenous Hub, designed by BDP Quadrangle for Dream Unlimited, Kilmer Group, Anishnawbe Health Toronto, Tricon Residential\" class=\"image-display_default\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"insert-display_default-179b5740-ac16-477b-97bf-40b49045ba3f\" data-insert-attach=\"{\" id=\"\" data-insert-class=\"image-display_default\" data-insert-type=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyrisecities.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/articles\/2023\/01\/51115\/51115-153484.jpeg\" onclick=\"photo('https:\/\/cdn.skyrisecities.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/articles\/2023\/01\/51115\/51115-153484.jpeg', true, ''); return false;\" title=\"Looking east to how the Indigenous Hub and Canary House are expected to look when complete, image from submission to City of Toronto\"\/><span class=\"image-description\">Looking east to how the Indigenous Hub and Canary House are expected to look when complete, image from submission to City of Toronto<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The mixed-use site, being developed by the team of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/dream-unlimited.7880\" target=\"_blank\">Dream Unlimited<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/kilmer-group.8677\" target=\"_blank\">Kilmer Group<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/anishnawbe-health-toronto.39181\" target=\"_blank\">Anishnawbe Health Toronto<\/a>, and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/tricon-residential.8368\" target=\"_blank\">Tricon Residential<\/a>, comprises two residential mid-rises of 13 and 11 storeys connected by a continuous 8-storey base, a 4-storey health centre, and a 5-storey child care and commercial building. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/bdp-quadrangle.8043\" target=\"_blank\">BDP Quadrangle<\/a> and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/stantec.8062\" target=\"_blank\">Stantec<\/a>\u00a0are the architects presiding over the design of the various buildings, with Indigenous-owned firm <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/two-row-architect.39410\" target=\"_blank\">Two Row Architect<\/a> involved as consultants.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the Indigenous Hub began in the Summer of 2021, beginning with the excavation for the project\u2019s first targeted deliverable, the health centre. The four-storey building frame has now topped off, and is seeing the final stages of concrete work take place on the roof; on the floors below, the building\u2019s defining curved corners can be seen clearly. On the ground floor interior volumes\u00a0can be seen without their finishes. On the second level, steel framing is beginning to create the base structure for the exterior walls that will seal the building. On floors three and four, shoring poles obscure the spaces as the concrete continues to cure.<\/p>\n<p>To the northeast of the health centre, the development\u2019s condo component, dubbed\u00a0Canary House, is climbing through the forming process, on its way to taking the title as the tallest structure on the block.
