{"id":13089,"date":"2023-02-13T05:17:57","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T13:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/queens-park-announces-hydrogen-innovation-fund\/"},"modified":"2023-02-13T05:17:58","modified_gmt":"2023-02-13T13:17:58","slug":"queens-park-announces-hydrogen-innovation-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/queens-park-announces-hydrogen-innovation-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen\u2019s Park announces Hydrogen Innovation Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>TORONTO The Ontario government has announced a new Hydrogen Innovation Fund that will invest $15 million over the next three years to help develop opportunities for hydrogen to be integrated into Ontario\u2019s electricity system, including hydrogen electricity storage.<\/p>\n<p>The fund will be administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), which is opening applications for the fund in April 2023, stated a release.<\/p>\n<p>Natural Resources Canada modelling shows hydrogen could make up about 30 per cent of the country\u2019s fuels and feedstock by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Projects would incorporate electricity supply, capacity, storage and demand management. The fund will support projects across three streams: existing facilities\u00a0that are ready to evaluate how hydrogen can support Ontario\u2019s grid; new hydrogen facilities\u00a0that could be in service by a specified date; and research studies\u00a0investigating the feasibility of innovative applications of hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p>The province is also advancing work to develop the Niagara Hydrogen Centre, led by Atura Power, which would increase the amount of low-carbon hydrogen produced in Ontario by eightfold.
