The roof of the existing building contains Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete which is being replaced in public buildings following safety fears<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RAAC is a lightweight form of concrete used in roof, floor, cladding and wall construction in the UK from the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s.<\/p>\n

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has submitted plans for the new development after being allocated \u00a318.2m by NHS England as part of a national programme to remove RAAC from all NHS buildings.<\/p>\n

Simon Butler, Managing Director Building Central at Tilbury Douglas said: \u201cAs a highly experienced healthcare construction contractor, we will work collaboratively with MPFT to deliver this new facility which will improve the experience of patients and staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new building will also feature sustainable energy sources and more efficient construction methods to meet net zero carbon targets.\u201d<\/p>\n
