{"id":15534,"date":"2023-04-17T21:37:53","date_gmt":"2023-04-18T04:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/ellisdons-smith-to-step-down-as-ceo\/"},"modified":"2023-04-17T21:37:53","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T04:37:53","slug":"ellisdons-smith-to-step-down-as-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/ellisdons-smith-to-step-down-as-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"EllisDon\u2019s Smith to step down as CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>MISSISSAUGA, ONT. \u2013 EllisDon has announced\u00a0Geoff Smith\u00a0will be stepping down as president and CEO in June of this year.\u00a0His replacement will be\u00a0Kieran Hawe, EllisDon\u2019s current COO of construction.<\/p>\n<p>Smith will continue to serve on the board of directors as executive chair and will retain responsibility for the company\u2019s\u00a0digital and data strategy as well as for EllisDon\u2019s Windjammer Landing Resort in\u00a0Saint Lucia, stated an April 17 release.<\/p>\n<p>Gerald Slemko, current chair, will assume the new role of deputy chair.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince Kieran joined the company, and more so in his current role, he has exhibited an ideal combination of humility, determination and leadership both through example and direction, all of which have combined to position EllisDon as a leading construction services company across the globe,\u201d said\u00a0Smith in a statement. \u201cAs importantly, he thoroughly personifies EllisDon\u2019s values and purpose, making him a natural fit to lead the next generation of EllisDon employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hawe began his career at EllisDon in 1999 as an M and E co-ordinator. He was appointed Toronto area vice-president in 2013 and then to senior vice-president and area manager of\u00a0central Canada\u00a0in 2016.
