Jakes Construction\u2019s use of technology to dramatically reduce time spent on administrative tasks earned the Chilliwack, B.C., company a 2023 B2W Software Innovation Award.<\/p>\n

Jakes used the B2W Track application to put it atop the Most Innovative New Use of B2W Software<\/em>\u00a0category as the daily performance tracking software cut its administrative time by 66 per cent, while the company tripled its work volume associated with the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP).<\/p>\n

Jakes is providing tree clearing, access road building and aggregates to five general contractors on a section of the major oil pipeline project running from Edmonton, Alberta, to Burnaby, British Columbia.<\/p>\n

The TMEP is managed entirely on a time-and-materials basis, with daily reporting of progress and other data required. Instead of re-entering data into five separate spreadsheet-based systems originally required by the general contractors, Jakes demonstrated that customized reporting directly from B2W Track could provide the information in a more concise and user-friendly format.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a monumental turning point,\u201d stated Derek Sterkenburg, an estimator at Jakes. \u201cWe estimate that we have saved more than 2,000 hours of administrative time to date.\u201d<\/p>\n

B2W Track also streamlined reporting of work being done by partners, as well as of greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption of equipment, all requirements of the TMEP, he explained.<\/p>\n

Other winners of awards, which were presented during the B2W Software annual User Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in March, included Superior Construction of Florida and Indiana, and Feller Enterprises in Utah, which were recognized in the\u00a0Best ROI with the B2W Platform\u00a0<\/em>category, and Ajax Paving Industries of Florida and Michigan, who won the\u00a0Best ROI with a Single B2W Application<\/em>\u00a0award.<\/p>\n
