The rest of that summer was spent shoring, allowing excavation to get underway shortly after and continue into the Fall. The site bottomed out by October 2020, and a footing was built for the single crane that would be installed a few weeks later, allowing forming work to begin.

<imgx alt="River & Fifth Condominiums, 37-storey residential development under construction in Downtown East Toronto, designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects for Broccolini" class="image-display_default" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="insert-display_default-afa443e3-b25f-4f24-b23b-f68f85b19a4e" data-insert-attach="{" id="" data-insert-class="image-display_default" data-insert-type="image" src="https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2023/06/52821/52821-158802.jpg" onclick="photo('https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2023/06/52821/52821-158802.jpg', true, ''); return false;" title="Excavation was completed in October of 2020, allowing forming work to begin, image by UT Forum contributor AlbertC"/>Excavation was completed in October of 2020, allowing forming work to begin, image by UT Forum contributor AlbertC

The majority of the next year was spent forming the building’s below-grade parking levels, bringing the project up to ground level by the summer of 2021. After that, the process of bringing the tower to life began, starting with the multi-volume podium section. Referring to the image below, we can see that, by spring of 2022, the lower 4-storey portion of the podium had been formed and was also seeing the first traces of cladding installation. Above, the podium steps back on all sides, and would rise another seven storeys before stepping back yet again to create the tower volume.

<imgx alt="River & Fifth Condominiums, 37-storey residential development under construction in Downtown East Toronto, designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects for Broccolini" class="image-display_default" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="insert-display_default-cf94340f-f1ad-4470-81f7-bf2167f80798" data-insert-attach="{" id="" data-insert-class="image-display_default" data-insert-type="image" src="https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2023/06/52821/52821-158803.jpeg" onclick="photo('https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2023/06/52821/52821-158803.jpeg', true, ''); return false;" title="By mid-2021, the multi-volume podium was rising steadily, image by UT Forum contributor skycandy"/>By mid-2021, the multi-volume podium was rising steadily, image by UT Forum contributor skycandy

With the creation of the podium levels wrapping up a few months later, the crew was able to begin the process of forming the repeating floors of the tower by the fall of 2022.
