United States Of America \u2013 U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm<\/a> issued a statement following the U.S. Senate\u2019s bipartisan confirmation of David Crane to serve as Under Secretary for Infrastructure at the U.S. Department of Energy. The bipartisan had a vote of 56 to 43.<\/a><\/p>\n

Granholm has stated, \u201cDavid Crane has\u2026shap[ed] the ideas and ambition at the heart of President Biden\u2019s clean energy agenda\u2026With him at the lead\u2026the Department will be laser-focused on realizing the goals of\u2026deploying clean energy manufacturing and capacity, enhancing domestic energy security, creating good-paying jobs<\/a> in communities across the country, and lowering costs for all Americans.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

David Crane remains a prominent business voice in the areas of sustainability, clean energy, and climate change. He previously served as Director of DOE\u2019s Office of Clean Energy<\/a> Demonstrations and was the CEO of Climate Real Impact Solutions<\/a>. Crane additionally served on the Boards of Heliogen Inc, Source Global<\/a>, JERA Co. Inc., <\/a>and Tata Steel Ltd<\/a>, alongside the not-for-profit Boards of Elemental Accelerator and The Climate Group NA.<\/a><\/p>\n

Crane was previously CEO of NRG for 12 years. During his time there, he took NRG from Chapter 11 to a Fortune 200 company. Crane also led NRG into becoming the forefront of next-generation clean energy development with the advancements of utility scale renewables, residential solar, post combustion carbon capture, and DC fast charging.<\/p>\n

Prior to NRG, Crane was CEO of International Power Plc, winning multiple industry, community, and environmental awards. In 2010, Crane was named Energy Industry \u201cCEO of the Year\u201d <\/em><\/strong>by EnergyBiz, top CEO in the electric utility sector in 2011, and \u201cEntrepreneur of the Year\u201d by Ernst & Young in 2010. Crane has also be awarded with the Corporate Environmental Leadership award, the Equinox Solar Champion Award, and the C.K. Prahalad Award for Global Sustainability Business Leadership.<\/p>\n
