{"id":19100,"date":"2023-07-04T06:57:14","date_gmt":"2023-07-04T13:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/planning-permission-finalized-from-university\/"},"modified":"2023-07-04T06:57:16","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T13:57:16","slug":"planning-permission-finalized-from-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/planning-permission-finalized-from-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Planning permission finalized from University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new project will soon be brought to life following the university\u2019s confirmation of planning permission<\/h2>\n<p>Longwood Place project, a proposed 1.7 million square foot mixed-use development, will bring new living, office, housing, retail, and community space improvements to the Longwood Medical Area (LMA). <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.skanska.com\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">Skanska USA Commercial Development <\/a>shared that it received official zoning approval of its Planned Development Area (PDA) from the Boston Zoning Commission on 14th April 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The company entered into an agreement with <a rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.simmons.edu\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">Simmons University <\/a>to develop and construct a living and learning center at the institution\u2019s Academic Campus in exchange for a 99-year ground leasehold interest in the 5.88 acres Residential Campus of Simmons University.<\/p>\n<p>Confirmation of planning permission represents a significant milestone in Skanska\u2019s partnership with Simmons University to support \u2018One Simmons,\u2019 the institution\u2019s three-phased strategic masterplan that will consolidate all of the university facilities onto one campus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe celebrate a milestone in a partnership that has grown stronger over the years and a shared vision that will deliver a high-quality, dynamic and welcoming living, working, and open space to enhance our community and solidify a sustainable future for Simmons University,\u201d said Carolyn Desmond, Vice President of Skanska USA Commercial Development\u2019s Boston office. \u201cSkanska is eager to deliver much needed lab and research space to support Boston\u2019s healthcare ecosystem, provide more housing opportunities and enhanced ground-level amenities and transportation options in an intentional and sustainable manner that will create the ideal destination neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Longwood Place will create a vibrant nucleus of sustainable research and workspaces, active community amenities, much needed housing, and an inclusive public realm in the LMA.
