Carnahan said that the program is \u201cturning federal buildings into testbeds for clean energy innovation,\u201d in the release.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>GSA<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span>, in collaboration with the Department of Energy,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span> will test the technologies in conjunction with private industry partners through its Green Proving Ground program. Some of the products being studied include an energy management platform from COI Energy, low-embodied-carbon concrete from Biomason, aerosol-based duct sealing from Aeroseal, vacuum-insulated glazing from Pilkington and operationally focused carbon management from Cambio AI and nZero.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><span><span><span><strong><span><span>Dive Insight:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>Established in 2011, the GPG program evaluates emerging and sustainable technologies in real world settings and will help to accelerate the agency\u2019s efforts to achieve net-zero emissions in federal buildings, according to the GSA. The agency <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gsa.gov\/real-estate\/gsa-properties\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>acts as the federal government\u2019s landlord<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span>, and owns and leases over 363 million square feet of space in 8,397 buildings in more than 2,200 communities nationwide.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>This year, the GPG program has selected 20 emerging and sustainable technologies for evaluation in GSA\u2019s real estate portfolio, a four-fold increase over previous years.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>This year&#8217;s GPG program focuses on seven technology areas:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Electric vehicle supply equipment technologies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Germicidal ultraviolet technologies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Greenhouse gas accounting technologies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Grid-interactive efficient buildings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>High-performance technologies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>On-site renewables.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Window retrofit technologies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The federal government\u2019s priorities are lining up with private sector demand, as renewable construction techniques become more commonplace.
