The fund has been active since 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Suffolk\u2019s strategy is to provide funding in the range of $500,000 to $5 million at the seed and Series A level, Daniel Antonellis, senior vice president of communications, told Construction Dive in an email. It will invest in both construction technology and property technology startups in those brackets, according to the release.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>Company leaders are focused on technologies that address the fragmented nature of construction, artificial intelligence and automation, and sustainability, Antonellis said. Artificial intelligence in particular has commanded headlines across industries because of products like OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT, and contractors are <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.constructiondive.com\/news\/ai-is-coming-for-construction-experts-say\/639570\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>wondering how to leverage the technology<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"standard-heading\"><span><span><span><strong><span><span>Dive Insight:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>In addition to the VC firm\u2019s key areas of focus, it will also invest in businesses designed to address challenges of the built world, including affordable housing, construction inefficiencies and sustainability.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u201cThe construction and real estate category is a $6.4 trillion industry that makes up 5% of U.S. GDP. The firm aims to create a healthier supply chain and reduce waste.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><strong><span><span>Wint:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u00a0The company\u2019s smart water sensors can be installed during construction to to monitor a building\u2019s water use during operations to help water damage loss prevention.
