Award: <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Terminal C multimodal connector pedestrian bridge and rental car lobby\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority has tapped The Weitz Co. to build the Terminal C multi-modal connector pedestrian bridge and rental car lobby\u202fat the Orlando International Airport, according to a <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>press release<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. The design-build project will cost about $113 million.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The project entails construction of a 450-foot-long elevated pedestrian walkway and an adjacent rental car lobby area that will connect the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>new Terminal C<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> with the existing rail and ground transportation facility. It\u2019s one of many upgrades at Florida\u2019s busiest airport included in its multiyear Capital Improvement Program.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n When complete, the project will bring new elevators, escalators, stairs and four moving walkways, and will provide travelers convenient access to Terminal C, the Train Station and the Terminal Link people mover, according to the release. It will also include rental car counters and queuing areas, multi-use information displays and interior landscaping.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Construction will begin later this year and is scheduled to be completed in 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Des Moines, Iowa-based contractor\u2019s design team includes Rhodes + Brito Architects, Ramski Interior Design, TLC Engineering, Base Consultants and Avcon \u2014 all headquartered in Orlando, Florida.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Weitz Co.\u2019s Aviation Team is extremely excited to be selected for this project,\u201d said Ben Bunge, Weitz director of aviation. \u201cOur\u202fstrong relationships have positioned this project for success, and we look forward to working with GOAA on this project as they continue working on their master plan.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
