{"id":20643,"date":"2023-08-12T03:08:15","date_gmt":"2023-08-12T10:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/network-rail-fined-1-2m-after-6t-rail-crushes-worker\/"},"modified":"2023-08-12T03:08:23","modified_gmt":"2023-08-12T10:08:23","slug":"network-rail-fined-1-2m-after-6t-rail-crushes-worker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/network-rail-fined-1-2m-after-6t-rail-crushes-worker\/","title":{"rendered":"Network Rail fined \u00a31.2m after 6t rail crushes worker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-477792\">\n\t<!-- .entry-header --><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Long-serving employee Kevin Mauger was crushed by a railway track weighing six tons while working at a rail depot in Hampshire.<\/p>\n<p>The 53-year-old from Eastleigh had five children and eight grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>He had been carrying out maintenance on Network Rail\u2019s rail production line at the Long Welded Rail Depot off Dutton Lane in Eastleigh on 30 November 2020.<\/p>\n<p>As he was cleaning the inside of a butt-welding machine \u2013 a machine that welds two sections of rail tracks together. The machine\u2019s conveyor system was on the wrong setting and that meant a section of rail track entered the machine while Kevin was inside.
