Avia 1 & 2 at Parkside Village<\/a> is one of those projects steadily increasing its presence on the ever-evolving Mississauga City Centre skyline west Toronto. Located just west of Square One Shopping Centre, these two high-rise structures, designed by Turner Fleischer Architects<\/a> for Amacon<\/a>, have made considerable vertical progress since our last update<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over six months after the last update, UrbanToronto Forum contributor Tim MacDonald captured a broad panorama peering northwestward. In a sweeping drone perspective from January of this year, we see a trio of cranes dominating the Avia at Parkside Village project, with two others heralding the rise of another Amacon project, Voya<\/a>, with its eventual 36 and 42-storey structures, not as far along, to the lower left of Avia.<\/p>\n

Three months later in April, we get a better look at the towers’ progress from ground level. The southeast tower has made significant vertical strides, scaling to 13 storeys. The balcony design starts revealing itself, adorned with a contrasting palette of white and black cladding. The flurry of activity is palpable with Avia at Parkside Village and Voya sharing the construction space, enveloped by, as UrbanToronto Forum contributor khaldoon so aptly describes it, a forest of cranes.<\/p>\n

In late July, red bricks are methodically layered across the five-storey podium. As we gaze north, the scene is peppered with a blue cherry picker, and the safety of the site ensured by hoarding and a fence.<\/p>\n

A few days later, we see the brick cladding embracing the west side of the podium. This northeastward view from Zonta Meadows Park paints a bustling picture, punctuated by the dance of cranes and the vertical journey of the hoist scaling the southeast tower.<\/p>\n

From a more expansive vantage point, the Avia at Parkside Village’s rise is contextualized alongside Mississauga’s iconic landmarks. The towers, gradually reaching their heights of 38 and 50 storeys, begin to take their place in the skyline with the iconic\u00a0Absolute World<\/a> condos, located about 1.3km east, and M City to the south.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing the pace of construction, another aerial view offers a dense canopy of cranes. It’s a testament to the city’s growth, with the Avia site, Voya, and the Square One District Phase One<\/a> vying for crane space against the cloudy backdrop.<\/p>\n

One last image captured by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Lake Ontario on August 9th, graces us with a moment of reflection. As the sun dips low, casting golden hues, we witness the aesthetic transformation of the southeast elevation of the podium. The intricate interplay of black cladding, silhouettes of cranes, and the neighbouring Voya construction site culminate in an eye-catching sunset vista.<\/p>\n

As Avia at Parkside Village carves out its niche near the Square One Shopping Centre, Mississauga City Hall, and Celebration Square, residents are poised to enjoy both convenience and connectivity, with easy access green spaces, plenty of stores and eateries, and to local MiWay and regional GO Transit buses.<\/p>\n
