At the end of July, the Associated Press reported that 60% of the U.S. population, nearly 200 million people, were <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>under an extreme weather advisory<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. Globally, July was <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>the hottest month ever recorded on Earth<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, and scientists say <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>summer 2024 could be even hotter<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n While the hazards to construction workers have been obvious \u2014 the Biden administration recently promised new protections in the absence of a federal <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>standard on workplace heat safety<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> \u2014 a more subtle impact may be hitting projects in terms of cost and schedule.
