Since then, Therme Group has had\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/diamond-schmitt-architects.7975\" target=\"_blank\">Diamond Schmitt Architects<\/a>\u00a0and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/studio-tla.8179\" target=\"_blank\">STUDIO tla<\/a> update the design for the spa and West Island after feedback from public meetings, community engagement, and City of Toronto staff. The reworked design is meant to be both respectful of Indigenous heritage and responsive to the needs and desires of the broader community. Another emphasis was the redesign of the West Island&#8217;s Eastern Headland, dubbed &#8216;waabinoong&#8217; which means the eastern direction in Ojibwe. Eschewing a monolithic structure, the new design adopts a campus-style layout.\u00a0Dr. Robert Hanea, CEO &amp; Chairman of Therme Group, emphasized the project&#8217;s commitment to community feedback. He\u00a0noted that &#8220;the design that we revealed today delivers the same great waterpark and wellbeing attractions.
