Reston, Virginia-based contractor Bechtel has opened a new office in Knoxville, Tennessee, amid a greater trend of expansion<\/a><\/span><\/span> by contractors<\/a> across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The new office, which Bechtel calls an Engineering Execution Center<\/a>,\u00a0will provide engineering services to support the firm\u2019s work creating complex,\u00a0mission-based projects, according to a Sept. 5 release<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEstablishing Bechtel\u2019s Engineering Execution Center in Tennessee was an easy decision,\u201d said John Howanitz, president of Bechtel\u2019s nuclear, security and environmental global business unit, in the release. \u201cWe look forward to deepening our relationships with communities and local businesses across Tennessee and recruiting incredible engineering talent across the region.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The new office adds to Bechtel\u2019s presence in the area, which includes a location in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, about 25 miles away.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bechtel projects in the state include the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Y-12 uranium processing plant<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> in Oak Ridge and the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Arnold Engineering Development Complex<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, located at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is the second new U.S. office the company has announced this summer. In July, Bechtel <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>opened a new Arizona office<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> to capitalize on growing tech sector construction in the state.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
