{"id":22293,"date":"2023-09-25T12:02:58","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T19:02:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/crown-withdraws-charges-against-construction-company-in-fatal-barrie-crash\/"},"modified":"2023-09-25T12:03:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-25T19:03:01","slug":"crown-withdraws-charges-against-construction-company-in-fatal-barrie-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/crown-withdraws-charges-against-construction-company-in-fatal-barrie-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Crown withdraws charges against construction company in fatal Barrie crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>BARRIE, ONT. \u2014 Criminal charges against a construction company in a crash north of Toronto that killed six young people have been withdrawn by the Crown.<\/p>\n<p>Defence lawyer Marie Henein says all six counts of criminal negligence causing death against Condrain Group in the August 2022 crash were withdrawn Monday (Sept. 25).<\/p>\n<p>Police have said the victims, all in their early 20s, were heading to a casino north of Toronto around 6 a.m. when their car crashed in a\u00a0construction\u00a0site, killing everyone in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators had determined that the crash happened at a municipal\u00a0construction\u00a0site on a rural road, where the car plunged into a deep pit nearly 24 hours before police officers came across the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Family and friends identified those killed in the crash as Curtis King, 22;
