The progress report also makes recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the Canada Greener Home Grant incentive program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/greencommunitiescanada.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/FINAL-GCC-DER-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">The the <em>Retrofitting Canada\u2019s Homes: Progress Report #1,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">published by Green Communities Canada, analyzed data from over 188,000 building retrofits documented with the EnerGuide rating system across Canada in 2020 t0 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cThe data shows the number of home retrofit projects has increased nearly fourfold since the launch of the Canada Greener Home Grant, but the average energy savings are modest at just 21 per cent.\u201d says Kai Millyard, Green Communities Canada\u2019s EnerGuide service organization manager, in a news release.\u00a0 \u201cOver 8,000 homeowners have shown that much deeper savings are possible in all parts of the country but these are just one in 16 retrofits now \u2013 the incentives are too small for widespread deep retrofitting.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Recommendations in the report<span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0include accelerating <\/span>deep energy retrofits<span data-contrast=\"none\"> as key to achieving the country\u2019s GHG emission goals while minimizing the societal costs associated with the energy transition;
