{"id":23807,"date":"2023-12-09T14:24:19","date_gmt":"2023-12-09T22:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/infrastructure-ontario-outlines-billions-in-capital-plans\/"},"modified":"2023-12-09T14:24:22","modified_gmt":"2023-12-09T22:24:22","slug":"infrastructure-ontario-outlines-billions-in-capital-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/infrastructure-ontario-outlines-billions-in-capital-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Infrastructure Ontario outlines billions in capital plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.infrastructureontario.ca\/4ae04d\/contentassets\/e08156084959463d975054aaa8298205\/dec-2023-market-update.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>More than $35 billion in projects are in Infrastructure Ontario\u2019s pre-procurement and active procurement stages, reported the organization during its most recent market update, presented from Toronto\u2019s Empire Club of Canada on December 5.<\/p>\n<p>Another 20 government-announced projects are also in initial stages of planning, with scope, timing and delivery model still being determined, explained Ontario\u2019s Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma and Infrastructure Ontario\u2019s president and chief executive officer Michael Lindsay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the last market update in March, three projects in infrastructure Ontario\u2019s pipeline have advanced to construction,\u201d stated Surma. That list includes a widening of Highway 3 to four lanes in Essex County, site preparation to rebuild Ontario Place, and construction at Children\u2019s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), which will become a single state-of-the-art purpose-built site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the inception of its public private partnership program almost 20 years ago, Infrastructure Ontario has brought 80 projects to substantial completion as of March 2023,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have successfully, since the inception of Infrastructure Ontario, delivered 80 projects to substantial completion,\u201d added Lindsay. \u201cThirty of those projects have reached substantial completion since 2020. We have collectively, together, delivered 11 healthcare facilities, six justice facilities \u2026 and 10 major transit and transportation projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInfrastructure is the backbone of a strong and healthy economy.
