Support Ontario Youth (SOY), an industry and government-supported apprentice sponsor group, recently announced the official registration of its 500th apprentice. The organization says the significant milestone represents the dedication and hard work of its team, apprentices, mentors and partners, all of whom have contributed to the growth and success of Ontario\u2019s skilled trades industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cSkilled trades workers are vital to the growth of our economy,\u201d\u00a0said David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. \u201cOur government is proud to invest in organizations like Support Ontario Youth as they continue inspiring young people across our province to explore careers in the skilled trades and helping Ontario reach a historic number of apprenticeship registrations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recognizing that skilled trades are essential to the province\u2019s economy, SOY is hoping that the celebration of the achievement will inspire and motivate more young individuals to pursue a career in the trades.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe we are at 500 apprentices. What an awesome accomplishment and such amazing growth. We couldn\u2019t have reached this milestone without the support of our dedicated team, apprentices, mentors, and partners,\u201d said Melanie Winter, executive director of Support Ontario Youth. \u201cTheir unwavering support has paved the way for countless people to kickstart their careers and has strengthened Ontario\u2019s skilled trades industry as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since its inception, SOY has provided advice and support to current and future apprentices, employers and industry stakeholders. Its mission is to streamline the apprenticeship pathway in Ontario by advocating for apprentices and supporting their careers while providing full support to employers. Through this effort, the organization aims to save employers time and money by connecting them with high-quality candidates who can succeed within their companies.<\/p>\n
