{"id":24557,"date":"2024-01-24T04:55:58","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T12:55:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/feds-fund-climate-resilient-research-for-infrastructure\/"},"modified":"2024-01-24T04:55:59","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T12:55:59","slug":"feds-fund-climate-resilient-research-for-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/feds-fund-climate-resilient-research-for-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"Feds fund climate resilient research for infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/files\/membership-default-internal\/\" class=\"memberhide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/01\/20220718_175041000_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"-\"><\/a><br\/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Jan. 23, 2023 \u2013 The federal government is set to invest $59.6 million over five years to \u201camplify and expedite research initiatives that will help ensure communities have the knowledge and guidance \u2013 including codes, standards, guidelines, and tools \u2013 needed to adapt to the impacts of climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The investment will build upon the current work funded by Infrastructure Canada to support the NRC-led Climate Resilient Built Environment (CRBE) initiative and the SCC-led Standards to Support Resilience in Infrastructure Program (SSRIP).\u00a0 It will aim to continue to support resilience across the construction sector, from design and decision-making to construction, operation, maintenance, and retrofit.<\/p>\n<p>The SSRIP initiative delivers standards and related guidance that address priority areas such as heat, flooding, nature-based solutions, and transportation system resilience.
