This is an official pre-event of the World Summit on Digital Built Environment <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/kirahub.org\/en\/wdbe2020\/\" target=\"_blank\">WDBE 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> <span id=\"more-1011033\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The focus of this event is situational awareness; what it is, why it\u2019s hugely beneficial, and how to implement it. The presenters are research and development partners in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aalto.fi\/en\/diction\" target=\"_blank\">DiCtion<\/a>, a Business Finland -funded project led by the Aalto University\u2019s Department of Civil Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Construction projects suffer from low productivity and risks pertaining to schedules, quality, and costs. Over recent decades, construction productivity has improved by a mere one percent. DiCtion seeks to boost productivity through the digitalization of construction workflows. Situational awareness is key to improving on-site workers\u2019 productivity.<\/p>\n<p>Situational awareness is knowing what has happened, what\u2019s happening, and what is going to happen in a construction project. It is made possible by a real time situation picture of tasks, conditions, and resources.
