Fologram<\/em> and All Brick <\/em>have invented an entirely new way of building in augmented reality (AR) to improve precision, reliability, and control over the construction of part of the Royal Hobart Hospital.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The footage from the Hololens headsets of bricklayers shows exactly how a team used the AR application.<\/p>\n

The bricklayers built several hundred meters of complex curved benches spread over 6 floors of the hospital without using a single printed drawing or template<\/em>. This is the first time that part of a large, commercial project has been built from holographic models in augmented reality.<\/p>\n

All Brick have embraced working in augmented reality because it introduces minimal disruption to their normal workflow while enabling them to work in larger, more efficient and highly skilled teams. New techniques and uses for augmented reality were constantly being improvised by the bricklayers on the job site, creating holographic tools for templating and cutting bricks, setting out block work, rebar and ties, locating services and scheduling construction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fologram<\/a> is proving that anyone working with digital models can build in augmented reality, and this project by Fologram and All Brick illustrates opportunities for architects and builders to deliver ambitious designs without having to worry about feasibility, cost, and risk. The future of construction isn\u2019t being imagined by white-collar workers and tech entrepreneurs in hoodies. It\u2019s being actively created by tradespeople, contractors and front line workers who are showing the real value of working with augmented reality on day to day jobs. All Brick has demonstrated that this opportunity to change the way we build isn\u2019t 10 years in the future, it\u2019s happening right now.\u00a0<\/p>\n
