Over recent decades, construction productivity has improved by a mere one percent. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aalto.fi\/en\/diction\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"DiCtion (opens in a new tab)\">DiCtion<\/a> is a research and development project led by the Aalto University that seeks to boost productivity through the digitalization of construction workflows.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<p>Aalto University\u2019s Department of Civil Engineering leads the project consortium and is the research partner together with VTT. The business partners are Bonava, Consolis Parma, Fira, Ruukki, Sweco, and Trimble.<\/p>\n<p>DiCtion studies, develops, and field-tests data models, processes, and technologies that improve construction site and supply chain productivity. The project aims at a future in which every stakeholder in a construction project has access to real-time information about the past, present, and future events of a project\u2013the shared situation picture.<\/p>\n<p>Aalto\u2019s 12-person research team is headed by Olli Sepp\u00e4nen, Professor of Practice. The project is funded by Business Finland.
