MULGRAVE, N.S. \u2014 The Province of Nova Scotia has announced it is investing $750,000 for capital upgrades to the Mulgrave Marine Terminal, including the installation of a bridge.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the funding will be used for the installation of a 44-metre steel bridge at the northern end of the Superport\u2019s Mulgrave Marine Terminal, explains a release, which will provide direct access to Route 344. The bridge was purchased from Zutphen Construction for $400,000.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure upgrades will also enable large turbines to move through the Strait of Canso Superport more safely and efficiently as wind energy is playing a key role in Nova Scotia\u2019s 2030 Clean Power Plan, which aims to have 80 per cent renewable electricity by 2030 and be net-zero by 2050.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Strait of Canso is a strategic area for wind energy development in the province and the Superport has a key role to play,\u201d said Greg Morrow, minister of agriculture and MLA for Guysborough-Tracadie, in a statement. \u201cThese upgrades will enable turbine components to be transported to potential project sites more efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
