The Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) recently named Sean Hollywood as its vice\u2010chair. Hollywood, vice-president, commercial, and claims expert at Hollywood Associates, brings three decades of international experience, including special focus on quantum claim preparation, dispute resolution and commercial management within the construction sector, to his role at the institute.\u00a0 Over the course of his career, he has worked for both the public and private sector, with his work has taking him to Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, where he worked on projects ranging from infrastructure and commercial developments to landmark stadiums.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have worked alongside Sean for several years on the External Relations committee, and during that time, he has consistently demonstrated dedication, leadership and a strategic vision which will make him a valued member of the CIQS executive,\u201d said Tammy Stockley, chair of CIQS.<\/p>\n
In addition to his work experience, Hollywood is also a RICS-accredited trained expert witness and professional member of the Dispute Board Federation \u2013 qualifications that have made it possible for him to be part of high\u2010profile construction projects such as leading the team responsible for preparing new construction contracts for the Supreme Council for FIFA 2022 Stadiums in Qatar, as well as collaborating with legal firms to provide expert advisory services on COVID\u2010related claims.<\/p>\n
\u201cSean\u2019s extensive experience in dispute resolution on large\u2010scale projects globally is a tremendous asset to the institute\u2019s external relations initiative,\u201d added Stockley. \u201cAs the institute continues to grow through collaboration with key industry stakeholders both domestically and internationally, his expertise will be beneficial to CIQS.\u00a0 I am looking forward to working with Sean in his new role on the board and I am excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring.\u201d<\/p>\n
A long\u2010standing volunteer at CIQS, Hollywood was a member of the Nominations Committee and has been a member of the external relations committee, of which he is now chair, for many years.\u00a0 He is a CIQS ambassador and has represented CIQS at both Parliament Hill and Queen\u2019s Park. He was also elected to the CIQS board of directors at the Annual General Meeting in Toronto in June of 2024.<\/p>\n

Volunteering with this organization offers me the opportunity to give back to an industry that has given me a long\u2010lasting and interesting career that spans decades,\u201d said Hollywood.\u00a0 \u201cWhile it enables me to share my knowledge in a way that benefits not only the Institute, but the profession, volunteering gives back two\u2010fold as it allows me to connect with like\u2010minded professionals who share a passion for leaving our industry better than we found it.\u201d<\/p>\n
