The company eventually chose Buckeye. But over the years blueprints expanded, costs grew and dates kept getting pushed back.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>Questions remain about what exactly happened, however, the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/southwest-valley\/2025\/02\/05\/local-state-officials-react-to-kore-power-abandoning-buckeye-project\/78182580007\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Arizona Republic<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> reported that Kore never received taxpayer money for the project. In the summer of 2023, Kore received a <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/korepower.com\/media\/kore-power-receives-conditional-commitment-for-850-million-from-the-us-department-of-energy-for-the-koreplex\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>conditional commitment for an $850 million loan<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> from the U.S. Department of Energy.
