Since UrbanToronto\u2019s last update<\/a> on Alba<\/a> in October, 2024, construction has transitioned from the podium to the tower for the 32-storey condominium in Mississauga\u2019s City Centre. Designed by Core Architects<\/a> for Edenshaw Developments<\/a>, the development is now well over halfway to its final height. Located at Hurontario Street and Fairview Road East, partway between Square One and Cooksville GO station, construction is progressing alongside work on the Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n A drone image from December, 2024, above, captures the tower at 16 storeys, with the construction hoist climbing the south elevation, above which a concrete boom pump is positioned. The crane towers over all. The white of bare, recently formed concrete walls outline future interior walls of 17th floor suites, better seen in the image below.\u00a0Glazing can been seen applied to first floors of the tower, while forming materials are staged where a future amenity terrace will be found atop the L-shaped podium.<\/p>\n A grade-level view across Hurontario Street showcases the cladding materials, with the black-and-white framing and walls of the podium’s residential floors now mostly installed around the glazing. Above, a concrete parapet wall around the podium terrace awaits cladding. Below, cylindrical concrete columns that support the floors above remain naked to the street, while steel brackets are being installed to secure the future glazing of the ground level, often the last level to be sealed in at construction sites.\u00a0<\/p>\n Similarly, cladding is complete on most of the podium\u2019s south and east elevations. Another parapet wall here above the vehicular entrance also awaits cladding, the windows of\u00a0a mezzanine level appearing above it. Temporary red fencing lines the edges of the balconies, their guards still to be installed.<\/p>\n A view of Alba\u2019s north and west elevations in January, 2025 reveals that Alba has now reached 19 storeys, with orange tarps providing some weather protection on the 19th floor while formwork can be seen overhead for the 20th. The tower\u2019s curved balconies with rounded corners create a fluid rhythm. The northernmost podium facade is clad in solid white panels, broken up by thin bands of dark glazing. In the foreground in the middle of Hurontario Street, pylons separate general traffic lanes from ongoing construction for the LRT.<\/p>\n Scheduled to top off later this year, Alba will reach a final height of 109.1m and house 418 residential units upon completion.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
