Rising at the intersection of Dupont and Shaw streets at the north end of Toronto\u2019s Christie Pits neighbourhood, The Dupont<\/a> is now topped off with both of its tower cranes dismantled. Designed by Turner Fleischer Architects<\/a> for Tridel<\/a>, the nine-storey development at 840 Dupont Street replaces a former Sobeys grocery store and surface parking lot with a mid-rise residential community featuring ground-level retail and a parkette.\u00a0 UrbanToronto last provided an update in August, 2024<\/a>, when the development was rising past the transfer slab atop the ground floor.<\/p>\n A drone image looking east in January, 2025 highlights the full F-shaped footprint of The Dupont, with its main volume running parallel to the rail corridor and its arms extending south toward Dupont Street. The mechanical penthouse sections remain in bare concrete, with ongoing work to enclose them. Temporary wood framing is in place at the west end, where glazing is yet to be installed. The east crane remains at the far end after the west crane was dismantled. Along the north side, materials are staged beside the crash wall.<\/p>\n Looking south from Garrison Creek Park, a view of the north elevation shows progress on exterior cladding, with glazing installed up to the sixth floor. The red brick facade is now in place along the lower five storeys on the left, framed by white precast panels in a staggered pattern, with darker cladding above. A construction hoist is positioned near the east end.<\/p>\n This month, a mobile crane is caught stationed at the site of the future shop-lined parkette in the site\u2019s southwest corner. The double-height retail frontage is now clad in brick, framing the large curtain wall panels for the commercial spaces. Another construction hoist remains in place at the far west end. Above, the black and white cladding pattern continues across the facade, though sections of exposed concrete remain to be clad on the upper floors.\u00a0<\/p>\n Closer to the centre of the south elevation, the future residential lobby entrance remains in progress, temporarily sealed against the weather ahead of window and door installation. A blue articulating boom lift is stationed within the entranceway, flanked by the podium\u2019s brick-clad sections, while the left side still exposes bare concrete at the soffit.\u00a0<\/p>\n Looking northwest across Shaw and Dupont streets, the development is entering the final stages of cladding after the east crane was removed this month.
