Stalled for years when the original developer the\u00a0Greenland Group<\/a> of China encountered financial difficulty, their Lakeside project in Toronto’s East Bayfront area was eventually sold off to\u00a0Pinnacle International<\/a>. Now, following months of work by Pinnacle to complete the excavation (work had started in late 2020) and months more to build the underground levels,\u00a0Phase 1 of Pinnacle Lakeside<\/a> is now emerging at grade. On the southwest corner of Lake Shore Boulevard East and Sherbourne Street, the first phase of this Hariri Pontarini Architects<\/a>-designed development comprises three mixed-use buildings rising 15 to 54 storeys directly across from Sherbourne Common Park, and within walking distance of the future Waterfront East LRT.\u00a0<\/p>\n UrbanToronto provided an update on\u00a0the resubmitted application<\/a> in November, 2024, which proposed increased density and heights. It was followed by a technical resubmission in February, 2025 that included revised parking counts and layout refinements.<\/p>\n Looking southwest across the site back in October, 2024, structural work was underway across multiple sections of the site. Viewed from the northeast corner, concrete walls and columns rise from the poured slab. Active formwork zones are visible at both the northeast and southwest ends. To the right, a dense mat of rebar is set in preparation for an upcoming slab pour. Phase 2<\/a> is planned to the west, at the back of the image.<\/p>\n Seen looking east in January, 2025, activity \u00a0intensified as construction progresses beneath both cranes. In the foreground, a white concrete pumper truck operates with its orange boom extended to deliver liquid concrete into the rebar cages of an active pour. To the left a blue boom pump arm can be seen supporting simultaneous work. Behind the cranes, recently poured columns and wall sections rise among formwork panels, with a horizontal raker beam supporting excavation walls at the southeast corner on the right.<\/p>\n In March, 2025, we look to the southwest corner, where workers in high-visibility gear populate the scene, pouring concrete at the ramp entrance connecting grade to the underground garage. The pumper truck sits at grade, its articulated arm extending deep into a grid of rebar. Adjacent to the ramp, structural steel beams are in place, forming part of the load-bearing system for the podium levels above.<\/p>\n Structural elements are now emerging at grade across much of the site. Viewed from the northwest corner, shoring posts and steel scaffolding supports are visible in the foreground. Toward the background, formwork and upright rebar continue to define future wall and column placements as the site prepares for its above-grade phase.\u00a0<\/p>\n When complete, Phase 1 will range in height from 57.95m to 174.86m and deliver 1,261 condominium units.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
