{"id":29818,"date":"2025-04-03T16:24:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T23:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/kier-wins-first-phase-of-700m-warwick-uni-campus-build\/"},"modified":"2025-04-03T16:24:34","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T23:24:34","slug":"kier-wins-first-phase-of-700m-warwick-uni-campus-build","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/kier-wins-first-phase-of-700m-warwick-uni-campus-build\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier wins first phase of \u00a3700m Warwick Uni campus build"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>The investment in Warwick\u2019s West Midlands campus represents the largest single investment in campus facilities across its entire 60-year history.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Phase one will involve the new science and engineering precinct to reinvigorate the heart of its campus.<\/p>\n<p>A former car park at the University\u2019s main campus will be the site for the new teaching spaces and laboratories under the new plans.<\/p>\n<div class=\"break-out-box\">\n<h3>Works plan<\/h3>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li>A new flagship 25,000m\u00b2 Science and Engineering Building<\/li>\n<li>Demolition and refurbishment of buildings currently occupied by Physics and Chemistry to create new departmental homes for these disciplines as well as Engineering<\/li>\n<li>New University Green at the centre of campus<\/li>\n<li>A public engagement space, encouraging future scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians to take part in activities and to view the impact our research has through interactive exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Energy efficient buildings, with the ambition of achieving WELL Platinum standards, or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Construction of the 25,000 sq m Science and Engineering Building is set to start when all enabling works have been completed later this year.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/exterior_middle_1200x628-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-491487\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/exterior_middle_1200x628-1.jpg\" alt=\"-\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Connect Programme will also strengthen the economy by creating more than 1,500 construction-related jobs over the lifetime of the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Warwick University has enlisted Mace as project manager, BDP as architect and Arup for building services design.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_481364\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2023-11-28-at-23.46.05.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-481364 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2023-11-28-at-23.46.05.png\" alt=\"Warwick University science campus\" width=\"1312\" height=\"810\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">STEM Connect Programme masterplan<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mark Dady, managing director for Kier Construction Eastern &amp;
