They expand an organization\u2019s cybersecurity risks because each machine identity presents a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdstrike.com\/en-us\/cybersecurity-101\/identity-protection\/non-human-identities\/\" style=\"color:#467886\" target=\"_blank\">potential entry point for attackers<\/a>, the article said. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>\u201cWith seemingly countless NHIs deployed across modern organizations, it is easy for NHIs to be overlooked in security strategies, introducing a higher risk of unauthorized access,\u201d it said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>The nonprofit Cloud Security Alliance in September published a study finding that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cloudsecurityalliance.org\/press-releases\/2024\/09\/12\/csa-and-astrix-security-reveal-critical-gaps-in-nhi-protection\" style=\"color:#467886\" target=\"_blank\">nearly one in five organizations<\/a> had experienced a security incident related to NHIs.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>Despite their importance, NHIs are often neglected in security practices, according to Delinea. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>Over 70% of NHIs are not \u201crotated\u201d\u00a0or replaced within recommended timeframes, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation, the Delinea report said, citing data from <\/span><\/span><\/span>Entro Labs, a research arm of cybersecurity startup Entro Security<span><span><span>.
