Career Colleges Ontario (CCO) has launched a new awareness campaign to show how graduates are helping the province grow. The \u201cReflecting a Better Future\u201d campaign highlights how career college graduates support Ontario\u2019s workforce and drive economic growth.<\/p>\n
Across Ontario, students at more than 280 private career college campuses train for careers in essential fields, from skilled trades to health care to personal wellness, says the organization. Career colleges offer a unique path in Ontario\u2019s education system, helping fill workforce gaps in key sectors.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople don\u2019t realize what a career college is, how our students help drive the economy and improve their day-to-day lives,\u201d explained CCO executive director Kate Bartz. \u201cWe have urgent workforce gaps that must be filled to keep Ontario healthy and safe. Our graduates are building essential infrastructure, providing care for loved ones, supporting childcare and ensuring quality dental care.\u201d<\/p>\n
The campaign uses creative visuals to show how career colleges help Ontario achieve economic goals while also helping students upgrade their education and train for jobs in industries facing critical shortages.<\/p>\n
For example, Ontario is facing a housing shortage and infrastructure challenges, so career colleges are helping to train students in construction and trades to build the homes and structures the province needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cCareer colleges play a unique role in our education space, and something that makes our sector life-changing is we take people who have jobs and train them for careers,\u201d said Bartz. \u201cIt is vital for Ontario\u2019s future that we strengthen the career college sector. We want to work with the government on policies that support opportunities for students in career colleges and support Ontario\u2019s economic goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
