Metrolinx<\/a> has confirmed that they are renaming the station where both the\u00a0Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown LRT<\/a> and\u00a0Ontario Line 3<\/a> will meet, changing it from Science Centre to Don Valley station. With the Ontario Government’s abrupt closure of the Ontario Sciene Centre and the announcement that a new one would be built at Ontario Place, renaming the station at Don Mills Road and Eglinton became important. Citing its proximity to the Don River, Don Valley Parkway, and the valley itself, the new Don Valley station name aims to make wayfinding easy for future riders while reflecting the geography of the area. Public-facing signage for Line 5 infrastructure will soon be updated, with the costs covered under the broader Crosstown LRT project budget.<\/p>\n While missing from the map above, construction is complete for the Line 5 station<\/a>, underground at the intersection. Its bus terminal is at the northeast corner of Don Mills and Eglinton and like the rest of the station is awaiting an opening date. Other entrances for the Crosstown station are at the southwest and northwest corners. In the meantime, preliminary construction has begun on infrastructure for the\u00a0Ontario Line station<\/a> close to the bus terminal on the northeast corner. North of it, fencing and equipment are now in place at a former gas station site beside the Real Canadian Superstore at Wynford Drive and Don Mills Road. Metrolinx plans to begin demolition work of the gas station this month for tail track area for the Ontario Line, as seen in the southwest-facing image below.\u00a0<\/p>\n The future Ontario Line station and guideway structure is seen below looking northeast across Don Mills Road. It will connect to the Crosstown station and bus terminal via an underground concourse.\u00a0<\/p>\n Looking north from Eglinton Avenue, below, an area beside the bus terminal is now fenced off for early-stage Ontario Line station site activity.
