The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is calling on candidates who are successful in their bids to be voted to parliament in the upcoming federal election to keep construction on the front burner in their work in Ottawa. From parties to platforms, there\u2019s been a lot of talk about the need to build and grow Canada throughout the election campaign, says the national construction association, adding that candidates have shown support for Canadian construction and emphasizing its importance to our nation\u2019s economy and growth<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate the commitments federal parties, candidates and leaders have made on infrastructure during this election,\u201d said CCA president Rodrigue Gilbert. \u201cNow, it\u2019s time to follow through.\u201d<\/p>\n
His organization says a strong, sustainable Canada needs a strong, sustainable construction industry, since construction isn\u2019t just about building. The industry provides good jobs for Canadians, as well as safe, reliable infrastructure for communities across the country, all of which contributes to a robust, resilient economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe industry was facing challenges before the current crisis and will continue to face these same hurdles if systemic inefficiencies and chronic underinvestment are not addressed,\u201d emphasized Gilbert. \u201cShort-term strategies aren\u2019t good enough. To unlock the full potential of construction in driving Canada forward, we need long-term solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n
Through such engagement as the Construction for Canadians campaign, as well as its other industry initiatives, the CCA says Canada\u2019s construction sector is ready and willing to work with the next federal government to implement the investments and policies required to enable much needed infrastructure that will support trade, transport and housing.<\/p>\n
