Known until now as &#8216;The One&#8217;, the days-from-being-a-supertall currently under construction at the southwest corner of Bloor and Yonge streets \u2014 metres from where tens of thousands change subways every day \u2014 is now proceeding under the control of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/tridel.7852\" target=\"_blank\">Tridel<\/a>, who have subtly reworked the branding of the project, now to be known as &#8216;<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/projects\/one.5048\" target=\"_blank\">One Bloor West<\/a>.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><imgx class=\"image-display_default\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyrisecities.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/articles\/2025\/05\/58515\/58515-183517.jpeg\" data-entity-uuid=\"insert-display_default-92ab97e3-7a6d-45a1-8ef6-b8fbe6d4bd87\" data-entity-type=\"file\" alt=\"One Bloor West, designed by Foster + Partners and Core Architects, developed by Tridel, Toronto\" title=\"Looking southeast to One Bloor West, designed by Foster + Partners and Core Architects, developed by Tridel, \" onclick=\"photo('https:\/\/cdn.skyrisecities.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/articles\/2025\/05\/58515\/58515-183517.jpeg', true, 'Looking southeast to One Bloor West, designed by Foster + Partners and Core Architects, developed by Tridel, '); return false;\"><span class=\"image-description\">Looking southeast to One Bloor West, designed by Foster + Partners and Core Architects, developed by Tridel, <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eminent Toronto multi-unit residential industry player Tridel is now the development manager, construction manager, and sales manager for the 85-storey skyscraper that will briefly be Toronto&#8217;s and Canada&#8217;s tallest building. With its concrete core now within metres of surpassing the 300-metre-tall mark that will mark its status as a &#8216;supertall,&#8217; the building will complete its rise at its initially approved height of 308.6 metres, and not the 91-storey, 328.4-metre-high version that was approved following a resubmission to the City. Previous owner Mizrahi Developments sought the height boost both as part of a height competition with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/pinnacle-international.7793\" target=\"_blank\">Pinnacle International<\/a>&#8216;s SkyTower at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/projects\/pinnacle-one-yonge.6918\" target=\"_blank\">One Yonge<\/a>, and as a way to improve the financial situation of the project at 1 Bloor Street West that eventually triggered the process that resulted in the change of ownership of the building.<\/p>\n<p><imgx class=\"image-display_default\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.skyrisecities.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/articles\/2025\/05\/58515\/58515-183518.jpg\" data-entity-uuid=\"insert-display_default-a4f9d0f1-8029-4c18-a85d-d5585679fa4b\" data-entity-type=\"file\" alt=\"One Bloor West, designed by Foster + Partners and Core Architects, developed by Tridel, Toronto\" title=\"Looking southeast to One Bloor West from near Christie and St Clair, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy\" onclick=\"photo('https:\/\/cdn.skyrisecities.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/articles\/2025\/05\/58515\/58515-183518.jpg', true, 'Looking southeast to One Bloor West from near Christie and St Clair, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy'); return false;\"><span class=\"image-description\">Looking southeast to One Bloor West from near Christie and St Clair, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Designed by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/foster-partners.7986\" target=\"_blank\">Foster + Partners<\/a> of London and New York and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/urbantoronto.ca\/database\/companies\/core-architects.7969\" target=\"_blank\">Core Architects<\/a> of Toronto, the building is set to house 476 condominium suites, a 172-suite hotel on the sixth through 16th floors, and five floors of retail, restaurant, and venue space at its base.
