Construction continues to advance at\u00a0Yonge at Wellesley Station<\/a>, where the forming work has moved on from the three-storey podium to the tower floors above. Located on the northeast corner of Maitland Street and Maitland Terrace in Toronto\u2019s Church-Wellesley Village, the 46-storey condominium is designed by\u00a0BDP Quadrangle<\/a> for\u00a0Plaza<\/a>.\u00a0It sits steps from Wellesley station or Yonge Street. UrbanToronto\u2019s\u00a0last update<\/a> was in January 2025, when construction had recently surpassed grade level.<\/p>\n In March, 2025, a Minor Variance application was approved by the Committee of Adjustment, increasing the building\u2019s height from 40 to 46 storeys, as well as the residential unit count from 502 to 572. With only 4 residential elevators in the building, or one elevator for every 143 units, the elevators will need quite high-speed motors to provide adequate service.<\/p>\n The changes reduced the number of required three-bedroom units while adding a stipulation that at least 29.5% of the residential units have two or more bedrooms. The changes also reduced the number of required visitor parking spaces, with only 7 now included, while a $300,000 contribution is to be directed toward local improvements in Ward 13. The TTC also requires technical review due to its proximity to the Yonge subway tunnel under the adjacent surface parking lot (soon to become a park).<\/p>\n While plans for the building changed, work carried on. In this northeast-facing view from April, 2025, structural work has advanced to the ninth level slab, with four floors fully formed above the completed three-storey podium. The podium is capped by a parapet wall enclosing the future fourth floor terrace, while an exterior construction hoist has been installed along the west elevation.<\/p>\n Looking north from Maitland Street at the start of this month, construction had reached the 10th floor, now largely formed along the south elevation, while decking is in place for the 11th-floor slab. Black safety netting is fastened beneath the sixth floor to catch any falling materials.<\/p>\n Most recently, installation of red brick-patterned precast panels has begun along the east elevation of the podium. Just above, insulation has been fitted along the fourth-floor parapet wall in advance of cladding installation. Construction has reached the 11th floor, with the first decking in place for the 12th floor slab.<\/p>\n Looking northeast acriss Maitland Street on May 13, brick-veneered precast panels are being installed across the south elevation. Two-storey sections of cladding frame the podium\u2019s structural grid toward the centre of the site, where the future commercial and residential lobby glazing will be inserted.\u00a0<\/p>\n With the emerging streetwall beginning to establish a defined presence along the sidewalk, the fourth floor will serve as a recessed \u201creveal\u201d level, clad in fritted glass and grey spandrel. It will transition to the tower\u2019s window wall system composed of glass, aluminum spandrel panels, and precast white concrete.<\/p>\n Once planned to rise 129.2m, the building\u2019s height has now been increased to 149.1m.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
