The new product mitigates rising temperatures and contributes to more energy-efficient and sustainable building practices.

How CoolCrete™ Works

CoolCrete™ is a Supplementary Cementitious Material. It replaces a portion of traditional cement, helping reduce concrete’s carbon footprint by up to 40%. CoolCrete™ can also lower temperatures by enhancing solar reflectance and thermal emittance. By reflecting more sunlight and releasing heat more efficiently, CoolCrete™-treated concrete can be up to 10°C cooler than conventional materials. This potentially lowers energy demands for cooling buildings during hot weather.

Cities struggle with the Urban Heat Island Effect, where urban environments are significantly hotter than surrounding rural areas by as much as 10-15°C. CoolCrete™ aims to reduce the energy consumption tied to cooling in densely populated areas.

Photo: Carbon Limit, 2024

Addressing the Global Heat Crisis

The need for CoolCrete™ has never been more urgent.
