This has been a matter of confusion in the past, with some inspectors requiring safety glass in any window with a sill below the one-meter threshold.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bcas.oboa.on.ca\/support\/solutions\/articles\/70000673616-guard-requirements-for-windows-in-a-part-9-building\" target=\"_blank\">Read the full bulletin.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a Part 9 building, only glass or glazing in locations described in Sentences (6), (7) and (8) needs to be protected by a guard or designed to withstand guard loads. The Code does not require protection of windows in other floor areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The referenced sentences refer to glazing on second floors or higher; glass railings around stairs, ramps and landings; and windows adjacent or at the ends of stairs and ramps that people might fall into.
