{"id":30731,"date":"2025-06-03T18:18:55","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T01:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/strike-continues-for-wsib-workers\/"},"modified":"2025-06-03T18:18:55","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T01:18:55","slug":"strike-continues-for-wsib-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/strike-continues-for-wsib-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Strike continues for WSIB workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>TORONTO \u2014 The union representing workers at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has said the strike continues but they remain \u201cfully committed to reaching a fair deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite our continued presence and dedication, the WSIB refused to meet to engage in discussion Saturday about the issues affecting the membership,\u201d an Ontario Compensation Employees Union (OCEU) statement said on June 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe latest offer from the employer falls short across the board, including wages that are well below industry standard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The union held a strike vote on May 1 and received a 96 per cent yes vote from members.<\/p>\n<p>Workers have been on strike since May 22.<\/p>\n<p>The WSIB has stated it will continue to process claims and pay income support to those off work due to work-related injury or illness during a labour disruption.\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur number one concern is helping the people who depend on us for support,\u201d said Jeffery Lang, WSIB president and CEO. \u201cWe are focused on making sure income support continues for people as they recover from an injury or illness.
