{"id":30989,"date":"2025-06-20T07:13:42","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T14:13:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/careys-directors-sacked-after-4m-job-loss-showdown\/"},"modified":"2025-06-20T07:13:42","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T14:13:42","slug":"careys-directors-sacked-after-4m-job-loss-showdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/careys-directors-sacked-after-4m-job-loss-showdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Careys directors sacked after \u00a34m job-loss showdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-498924\">\n\t<!-- .entry-header --><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>An Employment Tribunal has ruled that their sacking was unfair on technical grounds but denied them compensation because of a \u201c100% chance\u201d they would have been dismissed if proper procedures had been followed.<\/p>\n<p>Regional Commercial Manager Donal Coppinger and Regional Director John McInerney were part of the senior team overseeing the Riverside Waste to Energy plant in South East London.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a339m contract was initially budgeted to make a \u00a33.3m profit for Careys.<\/p>\n<p>But a string of setbacks on the complex job radically changed the costings culminating in a showdown meeting with Careys executives last summer where it was revealed that the job was now expected to lose the firm \u00a34m.<\/p>\n<p>At the heated meeting CEO Jason Carey said: \u201cWhat have you two been doing for the last 12 months?
