Client City Life Developments has appointed Wakefield-based Henley as principal contractor to refurbish the Grade II-listed Midland Mill, which will be converted into 22 flats alongside a new 33-storey tower being delivered by main contractor Torsion.<\/p>\n

The historic mill dates back to 1793 and is a recognised landmark on the city\u2019s South Bank. Work is already underway on the complex restoration, which will involve dismantling and rebuilding several of the building\u2019s fa\u00e7ades.<\/p>\n

Henley will install bespoke stainless-steel reinforcements, fabricated by sister firm HZS Stainless Steel, to integrate with original timber and masonry. A new steel-framed slate roof will also incorporate solar PV tiles capable of generating more than 40,000 kWh a year.<\/p>\n

Henley is drawing on its in-house divisions including Henley Brickwork, Rail and Stone Specialists to carry out the complex job.<\/p>\n

Tom Cardoe, md of restoration at Henley, said: \u201cOur role isn\u2019t just to preserve the past; it is to engineer it for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
