On September 11-12, 2018, the World Summit on Digital Built Environment WDBE 2018<\/a><\/strong> will showcase a unique portfolio of ideas, projects, and businesses from the digital forefront of design, construction, and real estate. The event will take place in Helsinki, Finland.<\/p>\n https:\/\/youtu.be\/1DniiMbJmIg<\/p>\n The program will consist of almost 100 presentations and four workshops<\/strong> that were proposed in an open call for presentations and selected via a peer review process. The width and breadth of the latest digital developments in the built environment can be experienced as a random smorgasbord \u2013 or through three main tracks that draw pre-thought arches over the two-day program: Public-private collaboration, Digital processes, and Enabling technologies.<\/p>\n As part of the parallel sessions, six country reports will show the state of the art close by and further away. In addition, ten keynotes from around the world will showcase leading examples from different disciplines:<\/p>\n Forest Flager\u2019s<\/strong> US-based company Katerra is only three years old, but it just closed an $865 million investment from Softbank to speed up processes in the construction industry. Torben Klitgaard <\/strong><\/a>carries the helm at BLOXhub, a Danish version of the national digital development platform. Paul Doherty<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s The Digit Group currently signed four remarkable Smart City projects to China. Brett Young<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s BuildingSP brings big data to help with BIM processes and Andrew Watts<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 Newtecnic has modeled the most demanding projects from Morocco to Mexico and from Kuwait to China.<\/p>\n Lene Esperssen<\/strong>, CEO at the Danish Association of Architectural Firms, has 10 years of experience as Government Minister and currently also chairs Aalborg University. Kjetil Tonning <\/strong>is responsible for heavy construction at Scandinavia\u2019s fourth-largest contractor Veidekke and will also become the next President of European Construction Industry Federation FIEC. The Finnish Minister of the Environment, Energy and Housing Kimmo Tiilikainen<\/strong><\/a> has promised to deliver a wakeup call in the first morning. Last but not least, disruptor contractor Fira\u2019s CEO Jussi Aho<\/strong> will build bridges from hands-on construction to software platforms \u2013 and YIT Plc\u2019s CEO Kari Kauniskangas<\/strong> will prove that the Finnish construction\u2019s biggest fusion ever will result in new ways of delivering quality.<\/p>\n WDBE 2018 is now becoming the most comprehensive cross-section of digital developments in the built environment ever. The branch is coming to a turning point where new major opportunities arise and the old school approach is challenged from all directions. The result, we believe, will be substantial growth both in productivity and quality.<\/p>\n WDBE 2018 brings together clients, owners, executors and end users and it will cover the whole range of solutions from niche technologies to global services.
