{"id":31226,"date":"2025-07-07T07:38:02","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T14:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/danielle-smith-and-doug-ford-to-sign-agreements-in-calgary-today\/"},"modified":"2025-07-07T07:38:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T14:38:02","slug":"danielle-smith-and-doug-ford-to-sign-agreements-in-calgary-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/danielle-smith-and-doug-ford-to-sign-agreements-in-calgary-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Danielle Smith and Doug Ford to sign agreements in Calgary today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>CALGARY, ALTA. \u2014 The premiers of Alberta and Ontario will meet in Calgary today to sign two new memorandums of understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Danielle Smith\u2019s office says she and Doug Ford will sign agreements on energy priorities, trade and interprovincial co-operation.<\/p>\n<p>The pair were together at a roundtable in Calgary on Sunday, with Ford tweeting that they discussed how to build new pipelines, as well as rail lines to export Canadian critical minerals and energy.<\/p>\n<p>Smith bumped into Prime Minister Mark Carney at the Calgary Stampede on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>When she told Carney about the documents she and Ford would be signing, she told him it would be \u201cso great if we didn\u2019t have net-zero (carbon) rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ford signed a memorandum in May with Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew to boost the movement of goods and labour between the two provinces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best way to protect Canadian workers from tariffs and economic uncertainty is to build the infrastructure that will get our resources to new markets,\u201d Ford said Sunday in a post on social media, along with photos from his roundtable with Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Smith is also scheduled to be at the Premier\u2019s Stampede Breakfast early Monday, which will be outside McDougall Centre, where her meeting with Ford will take place later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>The rush to break down internal barriers to trade comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s tariff war with Canada.
